Obtaining your White Card in Victoria is a clear and straightforward process. You only need to complete a single, standardised course within Victoria, designed for all roles across the construction industry — whether you’re a construction worker, engineer, surveyor, laborer, tradesperson, delivery driver, or security professional. No previous experience is necessary and the course is open to everyone residing in Australia, regardless of citizenship or visa status. However, there are three key requirements specific to Victoria that you should be aware of, detailed below:
- 14 years of age or older

- Must bring 100 points of ID

Identification Requirements for White Card VIC
If you are new to the country (less than 6 weeks), currently in high school, or identify as Indigenous or Torres Strait Islander, you are exempt from the 100 points of ID requirements.

100 Points of ID Requirements (essential that is is in original format and not photos): For those who do require 100 points of ID, please see the list of acceptable documents below.
Rules to remember when providing 100 points
- Must have a photo ID
- Must show address
- must show signature
- CAN NOT USE two 70 point documents (only one 70 point document can be used. For e.g. you can not use a passport and birth certificate)
Please note that it is essential for your ID to be original and from Australia (your passport can be foreign). Digital IDs, such as your driver’s license in the Service VIC app, are also acceptable.

Exemptions:
Exemption One: Arrived in Australia Less Than 6 Weeks Ago
If you have arrived in Australia within the past six weeks, you can use your passport or visa along with a bank card or driver’s license from your home country.
For example, you could bring a passport and a bank card from your country of origin, and that would fulfill the ID requirements. If you don’t have a passport, you could use your visa and a bank card from your home country.
Exemption Two: Still in High School
If you are currently enrolled in high school, you can use your school ID as identification. If you don’t have a school ID, you can choose from the following options: driver’s license, birth certificate, passport, or citizenship certificate. but you must also show evidence you are in school if you are not using a school ID card. This could be by logging in to your school on your phone or showing an email etc. You only need one thing.
Exemption Three: Identify as Indigenous or Torres Strait Islander
If you identify as Indigenous or Torres Strait Islander and do not have enough ID to meet the 100 points requirement, you can present two official references from relevant agencies.

You need to be careful as there are a lot of scam white card courses out there that are not official and not approved by the Australian government or the VIC government. If you want peace of mind, you can check our approval on the Australian government and state government websites below.

Yes! You can use your VIC white card in every state in Australia. You do not need to redo the course if you move to a different state.
Allowances can be made for participants with language, literacy & numeracy issues. If you experience any learning difficulties, please make us aware at the time of your booking & the trainer will be notified prior to your attendance of the course. All students attending a course with NHSC or any affiliated third parties, must either complete and LLN test, or declare that they do not require assistance in LLN.
Change or cancel you booking at anytime prior to the course on one occasion.
VICTORIA White Card Training, Assessment and Certification Process
If you are deemed competent by the assessor, you will receive an interim accreditation slip on the same day as your assessment. This slip allows you to start working immediately and serves as temporary proof of certification until your official White Card VIC arrives.
Immediately following your assessment, we will promptly notify WorkSafe Victoria. Your official White Card will be mailed to you, typically arriving within 2 to 3 weeks.
