Frequently Asked Questions

• What are the ID requirements?

  You generally need to present three original identification documents before starting your Queensland White Card course. Alternative arrangements apply to some students, including high school students and temporary overseas workers.

  Standard identification requirements

  Provide either:

  – One Category A document and two Category B documents; or
  – Two Category A documents and one Category B document.

  Your documents must have matching details. At least one Category A document must show your photo and full name, and at least one document must show your date of birth and signature.

  Under the standard requirements, Category B documents must be Australian-issued. A foreign passport can be used as a Category A document.

  Common Category A documents include:

  – An Australian or foreign passport.
  – An Australian photo driver licence.
  – A full Australian birth certificate.
  – An Australian citizenship or naturalisation certificate.
  – A Queensland Government-issued photographic high-risk work licence.

  Common Category B documents include:

  – A Medicare card.
  – An Australian-issued debit or credit card showing your name and signature.
  – An Australian educational institution’s student ID showing your photo and/or signature.
  – A Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card or Health Care Card.
  – An Australian firearm licence with a photo.
  – An Australian security guard or crowd controller licence with a photo.

  These are examples, not the complete list. Document validity requirements apply, so contact us before booking if you are unsure whether your documents are acceptable.

  Alternative arrangements for high school students

  You may use your school student ID together with one other Category A or Category B document. Your school ID must display the school crest, seal or stamp, as well as your photo, name and date of birth.

  Another option is an eligible birth certificate, citizenship certificate, passport or Australian driver licence/learner permit, together with a statement from an authorised school official. The statement must be on school letterhead and confirm your full name, date of birth and attendance.

  Alternative arrangements for temporary overseas workers

  You may provide:

  – Your current passport.
  – Your current work visa.
  – One additional document: an overseas driver licence, overseas bank card or overseas birth certificate.

  If you hold another visa type or are unsure whether this arrangement applies to you, contact us before booking to confirm your identification requirements.

  Other special arrangements

  Alternative identification arrangements are available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. These involve at least one Category A or Category B document and written statements from two authorised referees. Contact us for the required details.

  Presenting your documents

  Bring your original documents. Photos or screenshots of physical ID are not accepted as originals. Eligible electronic documents may be accepted when you access them live through a secure official app or portal.

  If your documents show different names, contact us beforehand about the supporting change-of-name evidence required.

• Who can enrol in a White Card course in QLD?

  Anyone aged 13 years or older can enrol in White Card training in Queensland.

  There are no formal qualifications required.

  However, participants must have a basic level of English reading, writing, and verbal communication to understand safety concepts and complete assessment tasks.

  White Card training is suitable for school leavers, job seekers, tradespeople, apprentices, and anyone preparing to enter the construction industry or other high-risk work environments.

• Can international students or visa holders get a QLD White Card?

  Yes. International students and temporary visa holders, including those on Student, Working Holiday, or Skilled Work visas, are eligible to complete White Card training in QLD.

  You’ll need to provide valid photo ID and meet WorkSafe QLD’s identification requirement (listed above).

  Once issued, your White Card is valid throughout Australia.

• Is White Card training mandatory in QLD?

  Yes. White Card training is legally required under WorkSafe QLD regulations for anyone who carries out construction work or needs to access an operational construction site.

  This includes labourers, apprentices, tradies, site supervisors, engineers, delivery drivers, and even office staff who visit live construction zones.

  Without a valid White Card, you cannot legally enter or work on these sites in QLD.

• Can I complete my White Card training online in QLD?

  Yes. We offer online instructor-led White Card training, which is fully approved by WorkSafe QLD.

  This delivery method involves a live virtual classroom where you interact with your trainer in real time.

  You’ll complete the same accredited course as in-person participants, just from the comfort of your own home or workplace.

  A working webcam, microphone, reliable internet connection, and your own PPE are required.

• How do I book a White Card course in QLD?

  How to Book

  It’s simple.

  Choose your location

  Pick a date that suits you.

  Click Enrol.

  Fill in your details and complete payment.

  Once you’re done, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your course date, venue, and everything you need to know for the day.

  Show up on the day with your ID and complete your course.

  Before you start, make sure you have your USI (Unique Student Identifier) ready.

  Need a USI? Go to usi.gov.au and click “Get a USI”.

  Can’t remember it? Use the “Find my USI” tool on the same site.

  They are easy to get; it only takes a few minutes. Once you get one, it’s yours for life and you don’t need to get one again.

• Can I get RPL for this course?

  We do not offer RPL for any white card courses in Australia due to state regulations. You must attend the white card course to get a white card.

• Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements

  You don’t need to be fluent in English to do this White Card course in Queensland. A basic level is fine as long as you can follow along, understand safety instructions, and communicate with your trainer.

  That means being able to read simple signs and short texts, write basic answers on forms, and follow verbal instructions during the session. A bit of basic numeracy helps too, like reading times or simple measurements.

  If English is your second language, that’s completely fine. Just make sure you’re comfortable enough to participate and take in the safety content.
