Frequently Asked Questions

• What is the ID that I need?

  You must present 3 forms of ID. One must be a photo ID. The ID can be from Australia or NZ.

  If you are on a visa, you can use your overseas ID but one of the 3 items used must be your visa. 

  That’s the simple way to understand the ID requirements. Everyone needs three things. To see the official ID requirements you can read below.

  Identification Requirements for White Card in Queensland

  1 – If you are in Australia on a Visa. You can use your Visa, Passport and one other ID document from your home country

  2 – If you are a student in High school you can use your School ID and one document from the category A or B below

  3 – If you do not fall into either category above you must follow the standard ID requirements that are listed below

  ID Requirements (essential that is in original format and not photos): RTO must sight, three matching, original, evidence of identity (EOI) documents before undertaking GCIT. Please see the list of acceptable documents below. Please note that it is essential for your ID to be original and from Australia (your passport can be foreign).

  The EOI documents must comprise either: • One (1) Category A document and two (2) Category B documents, or • Two (2) Category A documents and one (1) Category B document. 

  At least one Category A document must be photographic and show the person’s full name. 

  At least one Category A or B document must show the person’s date of birth and signature. 

  Category B documents must be Australian-issued documents.  

  Category A documents Status 

  • Australian Birth / Bicentennial Birth Certificate (born in 1988) – full (not Extract or Commemorative Certificate) 

  • Australian Citizenship Certificate / Naturalisation Certificate 

  • Department of Home Affairs (DHA) – Certificate of Evidence of Resident Status – Visa Evidence Card (with PLO56 Visa) 

  • Queensland or Federal police officer photo identity card. Current 

  • Australian passport 

  • Australian Certificate of Identity, Document of Identity, Titre de Voyage, Document de Voyage 

  • Foreign passport 

  • Australian photo driver licence 

  • Queensland Government issued photographic high risk work licence 

  • Queensland Accreditation / Authorisation: driver/rider trainer; pilot/escort vehicle driver; dangerous goods driver; tow truck driver/assistant; traffic controller; passenger transport driver (bus, taxi, limousine). Current or expired less than two years 

  • DHA – ImmiCard; Temporary or Resident Visa; Document for travel to Australia. Note: Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is not accepted. Valid up to five years after issue • Queensland Card 18+ (laminated). Issued after 01/01/1992 

  Category B documents – must be Australian issued documents Status 

  • Australian Defence Force photo identity card (excluding civilians) 

  • Australian Firearm Licence (with photo) 

  • Australian Security Guard/Crowd Controller Licence (with photo) 

  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs/Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card (including Healthcare card) 

  • Education institution student identity document (must include photo and/or signature) 

  • Financial institution debit/credit card (must include signature and embossed/printed name) 

  • Medicare card; Department of Human Services BasicsCard 

  • Interstate government-issued or government-approved photo identity card. Current

• What do I need to bring with me on training day?

  Bringing the correct ID is essential, it’s one of the most important requirements on the day.

  Please review our ID Requirements section before attending to ensure you have the right documents. If you didn’t supply your USI (Unique Student Identifier) at enrolment, you’ll also need to bring that with you.

  You’re not required to wear or bring any construction gear or PPE. Standard, comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes are fine.

  All necessary equipment and materials will be provided at the venue.

  You’ll be fully prepared to complete your course and walk away with your official White Card immediately after you have finished.

• How do I find the Ipswich venue?

  As you drive in you will see The Showground Society on your left.

  If you keep driving past it you will see parking on your right next to The Showplace Reception Centre.

  Our classroom is directly on the opposite side of the road of the Showplace Reception Centre.

  We will have a sign up at the entrance so you can find us.

  The best way to find the room exactly is to use the google maps link below.

• Parking & Transport?

  There is all day parking on site at the show ground. You will see it out the front of the area and where the the room is.

  The venue is in the Ipswich Show Society.

  If you drive past that as you drive in you will see the Showplace Reception Centre on your right with parking next to it on the left.

  Once you park just cross the road and we are opposite the Showground Reception Centre.

• Do you have after hours courses or other course dates?

  If you’re after an evening or after-hours course, we run these sessions at our location in Brisbane City CBD.

  We also offer White Card courses at 6 convenient locations across Brisbane and South East QLD.

• Can I get RPL for this course?

  We do not offer RPL for any white card courses in Australia due to state regulations. You must attend the white card course to get a white card.

   

• Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements

  You don’t need to be fluent in English to do this White Card course in Ipswich. A basic level is fine as long as you can follow along, understand safety instructions, and communicate with your trainer.

  That means being able to read simple signs and short texts, write basic answers on forms, and follow verbal instructions during the session. A bit of basic numeracy helps too, like reading times or simple measurements.

  If English is your second language, that’s completely fine. Just make sure you’re comfortable enough to participate and take in the safety content.
