What is a White Card in Western Australia?
A White Card is evidence that you have completed general construction induction training. The national unit, CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, introduces common site hazards, safety responsibilities, risk controls and personal protective equipment.

How do you get a White Card in Western Australia?
Choose a venue or live virtual classroom, pick a date and enrol. Have your required ID and USI ready. After you successfully complete the training and assessment, we issue your Statement of Attainment and WA construction induction card.

Validity and replacement White Cards
A WA construction induction card becomes invalid after two consecutive years away from construction work. If you are returning after a long break, check whether you need to complete training again. For a lost card, contact the RTO that issued it.

Can you do White Card training online in Western Australia?
Online White Card training is available through appropriately authorised providers in Western Australia. NWCC’s planned online course will start from $49, subject to approval. Online learners need suitable equipment, identification checks and practical assessment; it is more than a multiple-choice quiz.

Using your White Card interstate
A valid White Card is recognised across Australia. Moving interstate does not usually mean repeating general construction induction training. Check the requirements in the place where you will work and complete the site induction and any task-specific training your employer requires.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements
You don’t need to be fluent in English to join a face-to-face White Card course in WA. A basic level is fine as long as you can follow along, understand safety instructions, and communicate with your trainer.
That means being able to read simple signs and short texts, write basic answers on forms, and follow verbal instructions during the session. A bit of basic numeracy helps too, like reading times or simple measurements.
If English is your second language, that’s completely fine. Just make sure you’re comfortable enough to participate and take in the safety content. For online courses, you need an intermediate level of English.
If you require LLN assistance, please let us know before booking. We may be able to offer support, make reasonable adjustments, or recommend alternative options.
