• What is a White Card course in Queensland?

  In QLD, the White Card course is mandatory for anyone who wants to work in the construction industry. It provides the essential safety knowledge needed to identify hazards, follow safe work practices, and prevent accidents on site.

  In Queensland, the White Card course can be completed face-to-face or through a live virtual classroom on Zoom with an approved trainer. Our White Card online QLD training cannot be done fully remotely or self-paced, as active participation and interaction are required to meet WorkSafe QLD standards.

  After successfully completing the course, participants receive a WorkSafe Queensland White Card, a government-issued construction induction card that’s legally required to work on any construction site in QLD. Your QLD White Card is also valid Australia-wide, so you won’t need to complete the course again if you move interstate.

  No renewal needed: The white card in QLD doesn’t expire, so you won’t need to renew it.

• What are the ID requirements?

  In QLD you must present 3 forms of ID. One must be a photo ID. The ID can be from Australia or NZ.

  If you are on a visa, you can use your overseas ID but one of the 3 items used must be your visa. 

  That’s the simple way to understand the ID requirements. Everyone need three things when taking a White Card Queensland online. To see the official ID requirements you can read below.

  Identification Requirements for White Card in Queensland

  1 – If you are in Australia on a Visa. You can use your Visa, Passport and one other ID document from your home country

  2 – If you are a student in High school you can use your School ID and one document from the category A or B below

  3 – If you do not fall into either category above you must follow the standard ID requirements that are listed below

  ID Requirements (essential that is is in original format and not photos): RTO must sight, three matching, original, evidence of identity (EOI) documents before undertaking GCIT. Please see the list of acceptable documents below. Please note that it is essential for your ID to be original and from Australia (your passport can be foreign).

  The EOI documents must comprise either: • One (1) Category A document and two (2) Category B documents, or • Two (2) Category A documents and one (1) Category B document. 

  At least one Category A document must be photographic and show the person’s full name. 

  At least one Category A or B document must show the person’s date of birth and signature. 

  Category B documents must be Australian-issued documents.  

  Category A documents Status 

  • Australian Birth / Bicentennial Birth Certificate (born in 1988) – full (not Extract or Commemorative Certificate) 

  • Australian Citizenship Certificate / Naturalisation Certificate 

  • Department of Home Affairs (DHA) – Certificate of Evidence of Resident Status – Visa Evidence Card (with PLO56 Visa) 

  • Queensland or Federal police officer photo identity card. Current 

  • Australian passport 

  • Australian Certificate of Identity, Document of Identity, Titre de Voyage, Document de Voyage 

  • Foreign passport 

  • Australian photo driver licence 

  • Queensland Government issued photographic high risk work licence 

  • Queensland Accreditation / Authorisation: driver/rider trainer; pilot/escort vehicle driver; dangerous goods driver; tow truck driver/assistant; traffic controller; passenger transport driver (bus, taxi, limousine). Current or expired less than two years 

  • DHA – ImmiCard; Temporary or Resident Visa; Document for travel to Australia. Note: Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is not accepted. Valid up to five years after issue • Queensland Card 18+ (laminated). Issued after 01/01/1992 

  Category B documents – must be Australian issued documents Status 

  • Australian Defence Force photo identity card (excluding civilians) 

  • Australian Firearm Licence (with photo) 

  • Australian Security Guard/Crowd Controller Licence (with photo) 

  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs/Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card (including Healthcare card) 

  • Education institution student identity document (must include photo and/or signature) 

  • Financial institution debit/credit card (must include signature and embossed/printed name) 

  • Medicare card; Department of Human Services BasicsCard 

  • Interstate government-issued or government-approved photo identity card. Current

• Who can enrol in a White Card course in QLD?

  Anyone aged 13 years or older can enrol in White Card training in Queensland.

  There are no formal qualifications required.

  However, participants must have a basic level of English reading, writing, and verbal communication to understand safety concepts and complete assessment tasks.

  White Card training is suitable for school leavers, job seekers, tradespeople, apprentices, and anyone preparing to enter the construction industry or other high-risk work environments.

• Can international students or visa holders get a QLD White Card?

  Yes. International students and temporary visa holders — including those on Student, Working Holiday, or Skilled Work visas — are eligible to complete White Card training in QLD.

  You’ll need to provide valid photo ID and meet WorkSafe QLD’s identification requirement (listed above).

  Once issued, your White Card is valid throughout Australia.

• Is White Card training mandatory in QLD?

  Yes. White Card training is legally required under WorkSafe QLD regulations for anyone who carries out construction work or needs to access an operational construction site.

   

  This includes labourers, apprentices, tradies, site supervisors, engineers, delivery drivers, and even office staff who visit live construction zones.

   

  Without a valid White Card, you cannot legally enter or work on these sites in QLD.

• Can I complete my White Card training online in QLD?

  Yes. We offer online instructor-led White Card training, which is fully approved by WorkSafe QLD.

  This delivery method involves a live virtual classroom where you interact with your trainer in real time.

  You’ll complete the same accredited course as in-person participants — just from the comfort of your own home or workplace.

  A working webcam, microphone, and reliable internet connection are required.

• How do I book a White Card course in QLD?

  Once you’re done, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your course date, venue, and everything you need to know for the day.

  Show up on the day with your ID and complete your course.

  Before you start, make sure you have your USI (Unique Student Identifier) ready.

  Need a USI? Go to usi.gov.au and click “Get a USI”.

  Can’t remember it? Use the “Find my USI“ tool on the same site.

  They are easy to get, it only takes a few minutes. Once you get one its yours for life and you don’t need to get one again.

• Can I get RPL for this course?

  We do not offer RPL for any white card courses in Australia due to state regulations. You must attend the white card course to get a white card.

• Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements

  To successfully complete the White Card course (CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry), all students must have a basic level of English language, literacy and numeracy. This ensures you can understand safety information and participate safely in the training.

  You must be able to:

  Read and understand simple safety signs, instructions, and short texts

  Write basic information, such as completing forms and short written answers

  Communicate clearly in English with the trainer and other participants

  Follow verbal instructions during activities and assessments

  Understand simple numeracy, such as reading times, basic measurements, or quantities related to safety

  If English is your second language

  You must have a level of English that allows you to fully participate in the course. If you are unsure, please contact us and we can help assess whether this course is suitable for you.
