Book White Card Course Online
Due to state government regulations, you must be physically located in the state at the time of your online White Card course. Note that there are two types of online training: Real-time with a trainer on Zoom and self-paced. NSW and QLD only allow real-time delivery with a trainer on Zoom. More information here.
You also need a laptop with a working webcam and microphone, plus your own PPE on the day (hard hat, high-vis vest, hearing protection, and safety glasses). These are required to complete the practical components over Zoom.
An intermediate level of English is needed for online White Card courses. If you have a basic level of English, we recommend booking a face-to-face course, where our trainers can provide more support.

Online White Card Course Information
National White Card Courses is approved by government bodies to deliver White Card courses and certification. Our online course meets all compliance standards and prepares workers for entry into high-risk industries, such as construction, civil, mining, logistics, and infrastructure projects.
There is only one official White Card course: CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry. For online training, you must complete the course that applies to the state or territory where you are physically located at the time of training. Once issued, your White Card is recognised across Australia.

How do you get a White Card online?
Choose your state, pick a date and enrol. Have your required ID, USI, and your PPE ready. After you successfully complete the training and assessment, we issue your Statement of Attainment and Statement of Training and apply to SafeWork NSW for your card. The Statement of Training is valid for 60 days while your card is processed.

Online Training VS Face-to-face
Online and face-to-face White Card training cover the same nationally recognised unit, CPCWHS1001. Online training lets you complete the course remotely where it is permitted, either live with a trainer or through self-paced study, depending on the state.
Face-to-face training takes place in a classroom and gives you direct support throughout the session. It can be a good choice for people who prefer in-person learning, need more support or are less comfortable using technology.

Real-time Training VS Self-paced
Online White Card training can be delivered in two ways: real-time on Zoom with a trainer or self-paced study.
Self-paced courses let you work through the training in your own time. Real-time online training is delivered live with a trainer by Zoom.
The states that allow self-paced online training are Western Australia and Tasmania.
The states and territories where online training must be with a trainer on Zoom are: New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory.
Victoria does not allow online training for White Cards.

Do online White Cards expire?
White Cards don’t have an expiry date, but they become invalid if you don’t work on construction for two consecutive years. If you are returning after a long break, you must join a course again.

3 Simple Steps to Book Online
1. Select your state: Choose your state, go to the booking calendar, and find the session that matches your availability. Then click “Enrol” to book your online White Card training.
2. Get confirmation: Once your payment is received, you’ll get a confirmation email with all your course details, including the Zoom link.
3: Attend the online training and receive your White Card: Join the online course and receive your certificate once you pass the assessment. You can already start working with that certificate. You will then receive your physical White Card by SafeWork or WorkSafe in the following 60 days.

Can you use your online White Card in other states?
A White Card is recognised across Australia, no matter which state or territory you completed your training in. You do not need to complete the course again if you move to another state.

What happens during an online White Card course?
After you book your online White Card course, we’ll send you the details you need to join the session, including your Zoom link.
At the scheduled time, you join the live course with your trainer, who will guide you through the training and explain the key construction safety topics. You’ll then complete the required assessment with questions and practical tasks on what you studied. Once you successfully pass, you’ll receive your training certificate.
Is an online White Card course the same as a classroom White Card?
Yes. A valid online White Card course covers the same nationally recognised unit as face-to-face training. The main difference is how the course is delivered, not the qualification you complete.
After successful completion, the White Card you receive is recognised across Australia.
How does the online White Card assessment work?
Once the online training is complete, you need to pass the final assessment to show that you understand the course content and can apply it safely.
The assessment includes written questions, verbal responses and practical demonstrations. You must correctly fit eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat and high-visibility clothing. Practical skills will be directly observed by our trainer, hence why you need a working camera, microphone, and your own PPE.
Once you pass that final assessment, you will receive your certificate and can start working immediately while you wait for your physical White Card.
How long does an online White Card course take?
The time depends on your state and how the course is delivered. Our live Zoom White Card course takes around 5 hours in Queensland and 6 hours in New South Wales.
Self-paced online training in Western Australia and Tasmania works differently. You complete the learning in your own time before completing the required assessments. There is no fixed class length, although industry guidance recommends a minimum of six hours across the training and assessment process.
Self-paced training may take longer overall depending on how quickly you work and when you complete the practical assessment with an assessor.
Can I work before my physical White Card arrives?
In many states and territories, yes. After you pass the assessment, you receive a Statement of Attainment showing that you completed the required training.
This can be used while your physical White Card is being processed. For example, NSW allows its temporary statement to be used for up to 60 days, and Queensland also recognises training certification while a card application is being processed.
Who can enrol in a White Card course online?
Anyone who needs to work on a construction site can enrol. There’s no formal qualification required before starting.
You do need to be physically located in the state at the time of your course. You can’t complete a NSW online course from Queensland, or vice versa. The course suits school leavers, job seekers, new migrants, tradespeople, and people returning to the industry.
If you’re unsure about your eligibility, contact us before booking and we’ll sort it out quickly.
Can international students or visa holders get a White Card?
International students and people on temporary visas, including Working Holiday, Student, and Skilled Work visas, are all eligible to complete White Card training online. You’ll need to bring valid photo Identification on training day.
Once issued, your White Card is nationally recognised and valid on construction sites across every state and territory in Australia.
Can I complete an online White Card from overseas?
No. Online White Card training should be completed after you arrive in Australia and in the state or territory whose training rules apply.
Some jurisdictions specifically require the training to be completed within that state. Tasmania, for example, requires construction induction training to be completed in Tasmania. For online courses, book the course that applies to the state or territory where you are physically located at the time of training.
What equipment do I need for online training?
Here’s a complete list of the requirements to join a White Card online course:
- Laptop or desktop computer
- Webcam and microphone
- Stable internet connection
- Required ID
- USI
- Hard hat
- High-vis vest
- Safety glasses
- Hearing protection
- You are physically located in the correct state
Can I join an online course with my phone?
No, you must have a laptop or a desktop computer. We cannot accept students training from a smartphone.
Is the White Card training course mandatory?
Yes. Under Australian regulations, you must hold a valid White Card before carrying out any construction work or accessing an active construction site anywhere in the country. This covers labourers, apprentices, tradespeople, site supervisors, engineers, and anyone else who sets foot on a live site, including delivery drivers and office staff visiting construction zones.Working without a valid White Card puts you and your employer at legal risk. There are no exemptions for experience or prior work history. Can I get RPL for this course?
We do not offer RPL for any White Card online courses in Australia due to state regulations. You must attend the white card course to get a white card.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements
White Card online courses require an intermediate level of English, higher than what’s needed for face-to-face training. You’ll need to navigate the Zoom platform, read on-screen content, type written responses, and actively participate in a live session with your trainer for several hours.
That means being comfortable reading safety regulations and hazard reports, writing short answers in assessments, and speaking clearly during the oral component.
If English is your second language and you’re unsure, we strongly recommend booking a face-to-face course instead where trainer support is more hands-on. Contact us before booking if you’d like to discuss your options.
