What is a White Card in the ACT?
A White Card is evidence that you have completed general construction induction training. The national unit, CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, introduces common site hazards, safety responsibilities, risk controls and personal protective equipment.
The course is a starting point for construction safety. You still need workplace-specific induction and any additional training required for your role.
How do you get a White Card in the ACT?
Complete the six-hour construction induction course through an RTO and receive your Statement of Attainment. Apply to Access Canberra for your card within 60 days. Use your own ACT Digital Account, provide the required documents and pay the application fee.
Validity and replacement White Cards
Access Canberra states that an ACT White Card remains valid indefinitely unless cancelled. If your card is lost or damaged, use your ACT Digital Account to request a replacement. Check the requirements where you will work, particularly when moving interstate.
Can you do White Card training online in the ACT?
This NWCC course is face-to-face in Canberra. Contact us for classroom availability. Applying for your card online through Access Canberra is a separate step after training; an online card application is not an online White Card course.
Using your White Card interstate
A valid White Card is recognised across Australia. Moving interstate does not usually mean repeating general construction induction training. Check the requirements in the place where you will work and complete the site induction and any task-specific training your employer requires.

A current and valid interstate White Card is generally recognised. You must also meet local workplace requirements and complete any site-specific or task-specific induction. Contact the relevant regulator if your card is old, cancelled or affected by a long break from construction.
What if I need help with English or learning?
Contact our team before enrolling. You need enough English to understand safety instructions, read course information and communicate during assessment. We can discuss support and help you choose an appropriate delivery option.
Does a White Card cover asbestos and silica training?
No. Depending on your work in the ACT, separate asbestos awareness or silica training may also be required. Check the requirements for your occupation with your employer and WorkSafe ACT.
